Cooking & The Internet Don't Mix
I use the internet as a distraction from my problems. Unfortunately, I have done it while trying to cook dinner. This is not a good idea. The smoke alarm does not make a good cooking timer.

Me Singing! No Applause, Please!
During the worst of times dealing with my husband's illness, music has been a great comfort to me. I like to sing with my earphones on. I am not, however, a good singer. When my cat Clementine hears someone in pain, she will run up to them, meowing and cuddling, to make them feel better. She does this whenever I sing!
Is That A Spider Up There?
A therapist my husband knows has counselled him to "Look up and to the right" when he feels depressed. This simple act helps him to change his inward focus (looking down and in) to an outward focus. Now, when I notice he is depressed, I will ask "Is that a spider on the ceiling?" or some other question to get him to look up. It has become a joke between us that makes us both smile.

I Did What??? I Did What?
Tension and chaos can short circuit your brain so that odd things begin to happen: like looking for your keys when they are in your hand, leaving an oil painting in oven to dry and then forgetting about it when you preheat the oven for dinner, or walking out of the house without looking in the mirror not realizing you have "Bed Head". (I haven't done all of these things, but they are the type of thing that happens when I am stressed).

But I Have No Joy...
If you find that you have no joy in your life and even the things you used to enjoy give you no pleasure, you may be suffering from depression. Depression CAN be treated. Please, contact your doctor, clergy person, or therapist, now.
